The Chartered Society of Physiotherapy produced a set of guidelines in the UK (2006) and there was a more recent publication (2010) in the Canadian Journal of Physiotherapy. Both are linked from the contraindication page of the website (http://www.electrotherapy.org/contraindications) Essentially, the UK guidance has ultrasound listed as a local contraindication as does the Canadian guidance. Both docs include relevant references. The Canadian document also provides a rationale and justification. Hope that might help to get you on your way?
