Laser and mitochondrial myopathy

I have a canine patient with mitochondrial myopathy. I am actually treating him for a biceps tendinopathy, but he has many myofascial trigger points through his epaxial muscles. I would normally use laser to treat the trigger points, but would laser be less effective than in a 'normal' patient due to the mitochondrial myopathy?
