is electrotherapy and thermotherapy good for bell's palsy?

I am a PT in Israel. I work in a public health clinic. We see bells palsy patients at the acute phase – sometimes a day after the onset. There is a big debate whether to use electrotherapy or thermotherapy as part of the rehabilitation. If to use, what modality to use, how to calibrate and how does it influence synkinesis. searching the web (pubmed etc.) did not give us an answer. The studies are inconclusive. I would be much obliged if you can help solve this puzzle.
